Matt Hendricks brings over 19 years of design and product development experience to his role as a Women's Design Director.
Matt's journey as a creative professional began in the Fall of 2000 when he responded to a student bulletin board post on campus for a part-time merchandising assistant at the Abercrombie & Fitch headquarters in Reynoldsburg, OH.
After returning to Ohio from his internship at Armani Collezioni in New York City in the Summer of 2001, Matt knew that NYC was where he wanted to pursue his design career as soon as he finished school.
Upon graduating Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a major in product development and evaluation, Matt moved to New York City to be a Design Assistant at Kenneth Cole Productions. He worked alongside Kenneth Cole himself developing seasonal concept direction for licensees and working behind the scenes on the Fall 2003 and Spring 2004 runway shows during NYFW.
Eager to re-immerse himself back into a more casual lifestyle brand, Matt moved on from Kenneth Cole Productions to become the Associate Designer for women's woven bottoms at Calvin Klein Jeans. It was during his time here that he discovered his passion for denim and washed casual wovens.
Strongly desiring further growth and increased responsibility in denim and wovens, Matt joined The Limited in the Summer of 2005 as the Designer for casual woven bottoms. Within 3 years he had gained the additional categories of cotton shirting, shirtdresses and denim. He was a leader on the cross-functional team that rebuilt and launched the new denim collection in 2008, growing the category to consistent annual sales of $20-25M. Matt went on to become a Senior Designer, continuing to lead denim in addition to designing all woven bottoms and managing the Designer for jackets and outerwear through late 2016.
In early 2017 Matt relocated with his family to Los Angeles to join True Religion as Women’s Design Director. This opportunity provided him with expanded creative leadership, broader oversight and engagement with the full product lifecycle process, and frequent travel to international locations such as Mexico, Hong Kong, Southern China, South Korea and UAE.
Matt currently resides in the Los Angeles area with his wife Holly and their two sons Hudson and Miles.
